Reduce, Reuse, RECYCLE is the mantra everyone has been exposed to. Most don't follow it. So it's up to you and me to set the example and socially influence everyone in a positive way. On top of that you CAN make Money at it. As one Socially Conscious Writer wrote, if you don't do it for the Environment, do it for the Money!
Soda and beer cans/bottles. If you live in a state that gives you 5cents for every can or bottle, how silly is it not to return it to the redemption center in your store?! Be careful, stores only take back product they sell. Otherwise you can go to a redemption center. See a can walking down the street? PICK IT UP! Not only are you helping to clean the street, you are making that 5 cents (or more). In these tough times who doesn't need those extra nickels, dimes or quarters.
Got old metal objects, appliances, small electrics around the house. Can't throw it away in your trash because the city won't take it? Or you just feel guilty about throwing industrial waste in your trash? I had an old saw, lamp, irons around the house. A few miles away from my house is a scrap recycling center. It's open on Saturday. I brought my stuff in and BINGO! I got money back. It took 30 minutes out of my day to make easy money AND ease my conscience by not throwing industrial trash away.
MAKE MONEY! BY RECYCLING!
